Barrel Aged Series 2021 #3
This 13% abv Imperial Oatmeal Stout was aged 9 months in Irish Whiskey barrels and infused with Toasted Coconut and Madagascan Vanilla.
A rich and full-bodied Stout playing on notes of Whiskey, Chocolate, Coconut and Vanilla with a long finish and a great kick.

A Pretentious Glass Company Imperial snifter plays host to this rich dark brown to black beer with a dark brown halo. A narrow ring of rocky froth is chestnut in color, short lived, and leaves no lace. A thin viscous film produces long legs that hold their shape for 15 to 20 seconds.
Whiskey is prominent without obscuring the dark roasted malt aroma. Warmth brings out dates.
Whiskey again features prominently in the flavor, even more than expected, and at the expense of the malt. Bitterness is modest and balanced against sweetness. No dates are noticeable, while the booziness lasts front to back and long into a bold finish.
Surprisingly, Torc has a medium to light body. The texture is similar to sharp satin. The alcohol is very high and hot, while carbonation is soft.
This was enjoyable as a barrel aged beer. However, the Oatmeal Stout is completely overwhelmed by the Whiskey barrel.

12 oz can.
Dang these folks know how to amp up an oatmeal stout.
Practically obsidian in hue. The slight head that forms dissipates, leaving a black mirror to ponder. No lacing.
Nose begins with a firm Irish Whiskey note. After a few whiffs, hints of caramel, date, and fig chimes in.
Again the Irish Whiskey starts things off, and it stays firmly in he spotlight. But after a few sips, slightly more timid caramel, fig, date, and stone fruit saunter in. But for whiskey lovers, this will be your unicorn oatmeal stout.
Mouthfeel is full, all encompassing, and warm.
Overall, I may not always want such a firm commitment to Irish Whiskey barrel aging, but when I am in the mood, this is the shit.
