had on tap at the brewery; poured into their flagship tulip
pours a darker gold body with amber tinges and a rocky two-finger off-white head that has moderate retention and leaves a moderate amount of thin lacing behind as it settles a thin halo
aroma is fresh, starkly crisp evergreen
taste lives up to the evergreen advertising, but then adds a mellow fruit resembling melon, along with a Citra-forward lychee/gooseberry mellowed tartness. it is overwhelmingly evergreen, however. no grapefruit to be picked out among the evergreen tho. and the evergreen feels compressed, condensed.
mouthfeel: moderate pillowy carbonation with a medium body. it's starkly crisp, a little grainy, fresh, and finishes dry with a tad of evergreen bitterness.
overall:
advertised hops are Citra, Centennial, and Simcoe. there is definitely a strong evergreen presence, but this particular tasting delivered no grapefruit or citrus really as much as evergreen and melon with a dash of gooseberry and lychee, though those notes are severely muted. I was a little let down, but it's still a beautiful looking, well made brew. it could benefit greatly with more balance in the three hops for sure, but it was still enjoyable and it was pretty obvious that this particular instance wasn't the norm as per their advertising blurb on the menu which seemed to focus more on grapefruit and citrus - which totally makes sense given the hop bill. and honestly, I'm still not sure where the melon note came from so who knows. I shall update this review once I've taken a long lap and come back to this one just to see if it was a one-off issue etc.

A good DIPA, but nothing we all haven't had before.
