Truly an excellent beer! Reminds me of a slightly sweet Orval.
Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. Wonderful head and lacing atop a golden yellow body. Smell of apples, oak, and figs. The taste is a lovely blend of light fruit, funkiness, and a hint of sour. This is one I will definitely buy again.
Another great beer from this brewery!

this is an interesting one, caught my eye right away, cool looking bottles and a real ambitious recipe. a pale strong ale fermented with figs and a couple of brett strains. the beer isnt as interesting as it sounds like it should be, which was a bit of a disappointment, but its a nice beer, drinkable for its strength, and something a little different for what appears to be a holiday beer, usually its all winter warmers and big stouts and spiced stuff. the figs are really minimal in this, i can smell a little of the sun dried sweetness through the fizzy white head on this, but they arent there much in the flavor, lost a little to the sugary malt base of this, which sort of reminds me of a belgian tripel at its core. the brett smells and tastes rather young here to me, not as dry and funky as i thought it would be, but not sloppy either, im sure this will condition up nicely in the bottle over time, but for now its belgiany and saison-esque rather than real wild tasting. carbonation is amazing though, tiny bubbles stab at the tongue and roof of the mouth, and its oddly refreshing for its strength and finishing sweetness, which really makes this for me, itd be heavy without it, but its so lively even delicate with this much activity. more brett and more figs would be cool, but this is an appealing glass of beer even if it doesnt totally do what i thought and hoped it would. a cool first beer for me from lazarus!
