he Brexit 1776 is also a ESB Extra Special Bitter) slight stronger than the OB. This beer is the classic English Bitter, Made with golden promise grain and plenty of East Kent Hops. Carbonated appropriately to give a nice refreshing beer that can be enjoyed at any time.

With NC just in the beginning stages of re opening from “quarantine 2020”, it was a pleasant surprise as we were driving home from hiking with the pups, to notice that HNG Brewing was open, albeit in a limited capacity. They were serving growlers only, no pints, but they did give you some cups so that you could enjoy your beer on one of there several of their outdoor decks. One side note about that; I have been to this brewery twice, and although the beers aren’t anything necessarily worth seeking out, this is probably the most scenic brewery I have ever been to. The outdoor seating areas are right on the river, and right there in the shadows of the cliffs of Chimney Rock State park. If your adventurous enough you can even climb out onto the rocks or wade into the rushing rapids. The picturesque scenery can make for a great afternoon or evening of beer drinking, and definitely makes this place worth checking out if in the area.

As for the beer itself, since I was splitting the growler with my wife, we had to settle on something we both would enjoy. We each enjoyed one glass, and took the rest home, where I polished it off that evening and the next day, but of course carbonation was a bit lacking the next day. But theres was nothing to complain about with this simple, one note, refreshing British pub style ale. Totally solid, would drink it again.
