A: Pours an opaque thick viscous jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint very dark cola brown + very dark chestnut brown + very dark garnet red colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy very dark mocha in color which reduces to a medium to large sized patch of very thin film covering a little more than 50% of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of roasted + dark + chocolate + caramel malts with a light amount of chocolate + caramel + maple syrup sweetness. Moderate aromas of cocoa + toasted almonds + maple syrup along with light aromas of coffee. Very light aromas of earthy hops.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of roasted + dark + chocolate + caramel malts with a light amount of chocolate + caramel + maple syrup sweetness. There are also light flavors of charred malts. That is followed by moderate flavors of cocoa + toasted almonds + maple syrup along with light flavors of coffee. Finally there is a very light flavor of earthy hops. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lingering roasty bitterness.

M: Just shy of full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with a light amount of alcohol warming in the finish.

O: Easy to drink considering the strength as well as the flavors + aromas of alcohol are well hidden. Nice combonation of toasted almonds and maple syrup in this roasty stout. Very enjoyable and not overly sweet as I expected with the presence of maple syrup.
