12 oz tap pour into an American tumbler pint at Silver Creek.
A - Black as night with a dense tan head, E.S.Black has moderate retention and some thin, wispy lace.
S - Chocolatey roasted malt nose with mild caramel malt undertones and a hoppy finish of earthy notes.
T - Toffee-like malt and toasted bread with a smooth roasted finish and light coffee, chocolate taste. Balancing earthy hops follow through.
M - Very smooth and medium-bodied, oats seem to possibly be in play here. Well-carbonated with a low acrid finish and nice crispness.
O - A good brew for sure, the black color is deceiving. This one has undertones of roast to the malty presence.
Interestingly enough I was around while this was being brewed. Instead of helping brew it like I was supposed to, I sat through mashing in, struggling through one of my worst hangovers ever. I "enjoyed" smelling the beer and opted for sleep rather than drinking more. It turned out nicely.
