Goshawk's Beans is a big 13.3% Imperial Stout. It has the two varieties of beans that are used most commonly in beer, coffee and vanilla. The coffee used in this stout was a custom blend created by Marea Coffee of Solana Beach specifically for Horus, that was then barrel aged in a Vanilla Bourbon barrel and then roasted medium. The vanilla used in this beer is my favorite variety to work with, Madagascar Bourbon vanilla.

Thanks to whomever sent me three bottles of Horus…I keep good records but they’re on the fading, 2009 desktop way upstairs. 22 oz. bottle split with my wife pre-Ted Lasso.
It’s black, it’s quiet in the glass, with a touch of coffee in the nose but surprisingly (to me) the vanilla is dominant. Pretty simple.
Goshawk’s Beans is an old school stout. Nothing pastry here just a stout with plenty of malt sweetness accented by the vanilla (though much less than on the nose). The coffee is so faint it may as well be Nicholas Cage’s acting skills. No booziness. If there were such a thing as a 13.3% stout you could sip mindless next to the grill this would be it.
Simple. Good.

This variant has a peanutty, mocha roast and again a note of wafer with a light sting of vanilla before the semi-dry finish. The medium body has a crisp, thick carbonation delivering cocoa powder and dark roast coffee with a sticky alcohol that burns more than Grasp. At times, I get an almost fluffernutter character as the body smooths and rounds out with temperature, but it's also not nearly as delicious as I'd thought it'd be.

650 mL bottle. Black body. Smells of coffee, vanilla, roasted malt, and alcohol. Tastes very sweet. Tingly coffee flavor. Vanilla. Alcohol. Heavy. Good in tiny quantities, but its booze and sugar preclude it from being a good beer in any real quantity.

L - motor black color. Beautiful coffee head that completely dissapates. Did get some sludge that dropped my rating slightly
S - coffee, vanilla, barrel. Some brown sugar sweetness. Additionally I get hazelnut. Not super complex but smells fantastic
T - follows the nose. Heavy coffee, some vanilla, richness throughout. It is sweet, but not the sweetest I've had. Hazelnut comes again.
F - think, luscious. Coats the tounge well and lingers. Could be slightly thinker and a little less effervescent
O - great stout that highlights the adjucts. The base stout seems to be very basic

Big vanilla on the nose and the vanilla dominate the taste as well but felt one note . And drinks a little thin in the mouthfeel
