L -- Unsettlingly thick and black in the glass. Two fingers of dense mocha-hued head that retains and laces quite well for the ABV
S -- Rich nutty coffee, hazelnut, caramel ice cream, cinnamon toast crunch, sugar-dusted french toast, marshmallow, maple, vanilla, hint of barrel character
T -- The hazelnut character is a bit on the aggressive side and somewhat overshadows the nice, lightly acidic nuances of the Nano Challa coffee. Also getting milk chocolate, nougat, oaky barrel
F -- Very thick and somewhat velvety
O -- Solid stuff, although the hazelnut addition was right on the cusp of being overkill

5 oz draft in tumbler type glass.
Working from memory so...
Pour: Black or deep, deep brown. Don’t recall a head or lacing but small pour might have limited it.
Nose: definite hazelnut along with dark chocolate. Can’t recall a lot more.
Taste: similar to nose with hint of coffee/dark roast malt, maybe some molasses or sweet vanilla. alcohol pretty upfront.
Mouthfeel: rich, viscous, smooth.
Overall: really good but fairly boozy. Worth a try and would love to have had time and booze capacity to have more!

Enjoyed on tap at Armsby Abbey today. $15 for a six ounce pour. Ouch.
A - Poured into a stemmed wine glass a nice dark black hue with a thick mocha head that fades to leave light lacing and a creamy blanket.
S - Big aromas of hazelnut. Just galore. Big hazelnut creamer aroma as well, roasted nuts. Flashes of chocolate, the coffee is super overpowered by the ultra intense hazelnuts.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with big hazelnut flavour. Really intense nuttiness, some slightly sharp alcohol along with roasted malts and chocolate. The issue here is that the coffee is incredibly overpowered by the hazelnuts. It flirts in and out but always in the background.
M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, little creamy. The ABV though flashes pretty hard on the finish.
O - Overall this was a solid enough imperial stout. The hazelnuts were super intense, however, that was about it. It reminds me of Founders Frangelic Mountain Brown with the sheer aggressive hazelnut. Still though, I expected more from Horus.

Very nice brew overall. Surprisingly sweet, with tones of molasses and brown sugar on the palate. Lovely hazelnut tones, in particular on the back third. However, for a brew that so prominently advertises Ethiopian coffee, there is precious little coffee of any kind on the palate.
Dark, thick, and very smooth, this is still an excellent overall brew.

Taste: rich hazelnuts, sweet, coffee, smooth with a boozy kick at the warming finish. Intense, sweet, hazelnut malty and coffee nose. Black, mostly opaque, with a tan delicate head and lace. Full but not heavy body. Good stuff.

On tap at Orenco Station.
The beer ours a blackish brown color with excellent hesd retention and light lacing. On the nose, there's a lot going on with this beer. I get hazelnuts and candy corn, along with some underlying coffee and vanilla. As the beer warms a bit, the roasted hazelnut aroma really comes on strong. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely in this sweet beer, though I seem to pick dark chocolate and light licorice as well. Muothfeel is fairly full, but with a touch of heat from rhe considerable abv. on the finish. Drinkability is fair I suppose. The beer is a bit rich/sweet and boozy, and so it's pretty hard to imagine enjoying more than a single 8 oince glass of this beer (which is what I'm drinking).
Interesting beer for sure. Not the sort of thing I can see ordering every day, but glad I had the opportunity to try it.

some hazel nut, then some chocolate then a micro amount of sweet creamy milkiness, maybe a little roast, the coffee comes into play later on but the coffee is not strong. When it gets warmer you get some booze that comes across like a hint of bourbon or dark fruit. But It never seems like it's 13% in anyway. Rather smooth for a big beer. Nice beer but not really worth the price
