24 October 2020 - Beer #200
Price: $35.00 at Other Half Brewing in Brooklyn, NY
Appearance: 5 - completely black. No head, but tremendous lacing.
Nose: 5 - whoa, there's a bonkers amount of aroma here. Mostly hazelnut.
Taste: 4 - yep, still a ton of flavor. I don't love it, but it's excellent. Again, mostly hazelnut with a bit of coffee on the finish. Not much vanilla.
Mouth: 5 - extremely thick and chewy. Rolls down smooth.
Overall: 5 - a wonderfully brewed beer. If you like these adjuncts you'll love this pastry stout.
Cheers!

poured into a pint glass via bottle
color is a dark brown with caramel foam
smell is strong on the hazelnuts. getting some vanilla there too. Coffee is faint
taste is following the nose...very strong hazelnuts up front with chocolate and coffee. not getting much in the way of vanilla thou
carbonation is low
mouthfeel is thick and creamy
more hazelnut forward than Hazelnut crown is but this is also more of a one-trick pony where HC blended the other adjuncts better. This is still a great stout, esp if you enjoy hazelnuts

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like rich, creamy, and roasted hazelnut, really fudgy, floral and slightly fruity coffee, rich sweet vanilla, dark chocolate, and some very light roast.
This is really rich and decadent. The coffee and hazelnut are dominant, and play off each well, with that creamy, dense, and rich hazelnut cream sort of flavor. There's a nice fruitiness and nuttiness coming from the coffee, along with a heavy and huge fudge aspect. There's just a touch of roast to balance the sweetness. The vanilla kind of folds into the hazelnut to create that sort of high quality coffee cream flavor.
This is thick, chewy, and rich, with no booziness (how?) and a surprising level of drinkability.
This surprised me - I figured I'd like it, but I didn't think I'd absolutely love it.
