Rich vanilla & Nutella on the nose. Good weight to the base beer; a touch oily, with a bit of a tang and bitterness imparted by the coffee. With added temp the barrel interplays nicely with caramel notes & an earthy dryness. Pastry sweet but not cloying.

Appearance is used motor oil with a curled creamy mocha collar thinning out to a chain.
The Dose still features all kinds of hazelnut, but it's drier overall here. But while the oak dries it out, it does not add a lot of flavor. At the same time, it does actually add some cleansing heat to the syrupy chocolate viscosity, and there's also a hint of strawberry I never got from the original. This may be from adding such a huge amount of adjuncts, which I'm guessing is more attributed to the vanilla or coffee, and maybe both.
The medium body has a thickness cut by a cracklingly thin, fine carbonation before coming to a slightly sticky finish.
I'm not sure it's "better" than the base, but at least I finally got to try an "aged" ale by Horus AGED Ales.

Tan head. Black color.
Too much hazelnut. Very nutty. Reminds me of a neopolitan ice cream sandwich. Vanilla. Cocoa. Coffee is hidden. Too much pastry, not enough barrel. Chalky finish.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into glass. This beer smelled amazing! Nice note of chocolate and coconut. Was a darker black and very, very thick like a liquid syrup. Beer then tasted like a liquid candy bar chocolate and coconut. This beer needs some more bottle conditioning as it’s fresh and very sweet. Once it settles down I think this will hit a 5.0 rating.
