Pours dark brown, nearly black. Sits jet black in the glass, with no head to speak of. Between the 84 additives and the nearly 2 years in barrels, no chance of active carbonation.
Imagine a plate of blueberry pancakes with dark chocolate chips. Maybe even a bit of blueberry Pop Tart fresh out of the toaster. Smells amazing. As it warms, the multiple ingredients start to muddle things up a bit, and the booze from the barrel starts to sting the nostrils.
Blueberry muffin dominates the flavor, with tons of dark chocolate, baked goods, oaky barrel with pecan dryness. Thankfully I don’t get the marshmallow at all, and the barrel provides a good balance to the sweetness. Definitely improves as it warms and opens up.
Feels a bit thin, but finishes with a good dark chocolate bitterness. Overall, Horus continues to do an awesome job with their blueberry stouts. Keep it up.
