Pitch black, viscous pour. To accompany the murky depths are small pieces of coconut in varying sizes, floating lazily at the top of the glass. Zero head buildup whatsover.
The Samoa cookies on the nose was absolutely nailed here - rich notes of coconut, milk chocolate, and Nutella all hit immediately.
The palate mirrors much of the nose with that chocolate-dipped coconut and rich hazelnut, but is also layered with fantastic barrel character that starts on the mid-palate. There's a hint of charred oak, toasted sugar, and a touch of rye. A really exceptional balance to the experience.
The mouthfeel is spot-on. Full but not too thick, with just enough carbonation to help cut through the gravity. There's a good warmth to this at 14%, one that lingers well into the next sip.
