i wanted a lot more from this one, my first beer from these guys, who i had not ever heard of before i encountered this one. i dont think the presentation did it any favors, when i see a saison type poured into a shaker pint, its immediately a turn off no matter what the beer tastes like, but thats on the establishment not the brewer. the beer is murky and thick, orange in color, muted in luster, and with a nice white head on it, a shade darker and a little more dense looking than anticipated. there is a neat yeast to this, but the character of it tastes a little over developed to me, especially in a style where the best beers have subtlety built in. its loosely belgian, with some fruity notes of white grape and apricot, but also a soft spiciness, rye-esque. the beer is super wheaty and a little sweet in the aroma too, simple but not particularly well refined. the flavor is about the same, yeast driven for sure, a little estery, french saison yeast notes, grassiness, honey, and a ton of the wheat character here. lots of body, decent carbonation, not as dry as i like these to finish, and one final bubblegum note from the yeast at the end. decent beer, but not my favorite type of saison, and in need of a little fine tuning i think...
