Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at Alvarium Beer Company, New Britain, CT
Served in a Rastal Harmony Tumbler
The beer poured a thinner bodied, raspberry red hue and was topped by a frothy, finger-tall, light pink crown that quickly dissolved. There was no lacing whatsoever. When held up to the light, I could spot tiny particles of glitter floating throughout the liquid, but the glitter was quite subtle.
The aroma was impressive. Super fruity and sweet. Slightly tart as well. Raspberry was most apparent. Lime notes also came through strong. A lime rickey definitely came to mind. The lime intensified as the beer sat. Hint of cherry too, but this was rather faint.
The flavor profile was much more sour and acidic than the flavor. Super tart and tangy lime notes dominated. Bit of raspberry as well. Blue raspberry (as depicted on the label) somehow came to mind. Zippy lime peel notes appeared on the finish. Fairly pithy and dry. Hint of bracing acidity and lingering bitterness after the swallow.
The mouthfeel was pretty straightforward. Medium-thin bodied for the style. A touch watery perhaps. The liquid contained a super fine and subtle carbonation that fluffed up slightly as the beer moved along the palate.
A glitter infused, blue raspberry, lime and cherry flavored sour beer sounds like a potential disaster, but this was actually quite good. I can imagine this being particularly enjoyable on a hot summer afternoon.
