Simply put, this is dessert in a glass. The use of banana, coconut, cream cheese, graham cracker, cinnamon, oat milk, lactose, and vanilla come together to form an experience unlike anything you've drank before. Pure banana coconut pie in a glass!

Big thanks to my sister Vanessa for grabbing me this Crumble series mixed four pack.

The beer poured a super thick, opaque and milky looking, light yellow hue. A dense, creamy, off-white crown topped the liquid, but it quickly dissolved. As the beer was consumed, a blanket of fine sediment coated the glass.

The nose was impressive. Ripe banana came through strongest. A sweet, cinnamon-laced crumble cake note was also apparent. Cream cheese and/or lactose were noticeable too. Good dose of vanilla as well. The coconut was detectable initially but became more subtle with time.

Like the other beers in Alvarium’s Crumble series, the flavor profile was excessively tart and quite different from the aroma. There was a hint of banana and crumble cake up front, but the adjuncts were quickly overwhelmed by an intensely tart, lemon-like sourness. Unsweetened lemon curd came to mind. Bit of creamy lactose-like sweetness. More lemon and pithy lemon peel on the back end and in the finish.

The mouthfeel was solid. Fuller bodied for the style. Creamy and slick, like a fruit smoothie. A touch grainy as well, perhaps from the adjuncts. The liquid contained a super fine, subtle effervescence that gave the beer a bit of zippiness on the palate.

Like the other beers in my Crumble mixed pack, this Banana Coconut variant had an interesting aroma but a flavor profile that was far too tart and one dimensional for my liking. Alvarium make some solid beers, but fruited sours apparently are not their forte.
