Pours quite dark. The head was frothy, white, 1 finger, and good lacing on the glass.
The nose is rich with coffee, and a malt presence.
The taste is mellow, but coffee forward. Coffee is the dominant flavor.
Feel is a bit watery, but not too much so
Good coffee stout. Easy drinking.

really really nice coffee black lager, especially for what must be a first batch on this new system theyve got in here. great beer for anyone, but really for a brewery who is just opening its sensational. i love the appearance, brownish black in the stemmed glass with a short off white bubbly airy head, it looks great. the aroma here is fresh coffee, roasted next door from what i understand, earthy and smooth and with some serious chocolate notes. right away on the taste the lager elements are obvious, it has a lightness for its color, is drier than an ale would be here, and the yeast has a taste, but it also serves to pull the grain away from the coffee and let its roasted goodness really shine. i love its lightness and drinkability with all the flavor and color here, its a clever beer and one thats really well done. almost no coffee acidity either, but a little but of a caffeine pick me up at the same time. smooth but maybe a little too light on the body, relaxed carbonation, drier as it finishes. i liked this significantly more than the base beer without the coffee, although both are really well done. these guys are off to a great start!
