Heavily clouded, one might say "hazy", dull orange/golden color, with a prodigious layer of ivory head atop.

In the nose: creamy, sweet, fruity. hoppy, damn. Grapefruit, lemon and lime. Wow. This is nice. Very nice.

In the mouth: Sweet, bitter, creamy, delicious. Milky, creamy, lush, malty, ...I already said delicious, right? Smooth. Flooded with tropical fruit flavors, pineapple, mango, & more. Beautifully, delightfully hoppy. Medium body, easy drinking. Not quite feeling the buzz yet....almost....there we go.

This was a good one, and it went down in no time. Wish I had some more.

16oz. can into Night Shift stemware.

Looks like orange juice. Nose is clementine, Sunkist and orange cream. Like a creamsicle. Beer opens orange cream. Some pine resin, lactose creaminess, grapefruit and pineapple in the middle. Finishes super juicy. Clemetine and a juicy bitterness in the aftertaste. Solid but I'm not a big fan of these "milkshake" IPAs. Body is medium with moderate to low carbonation. Super smooth and silky on the palate and goes down aggressive with some dryness. Messy, lingering finish.

This is a clementine milkshake. Pretty solid but again, the lactose presence just doesn't really work for me in the IPA style.

L: pours murky gold under a lacy 1" cream colored cap with good retention

S: Tropical fruit dominates the aromas joined by citrus, some light bread crumb and traces of onion and garlic.

T: mildly sweet, pulpy and juicy dominated by tropical fruit, citrus, melon and light biscuit and a touch of light cake

F: The medium plus bodied beer is very creamy with medium carbonation

O: A big, bold double IPA

Happy birthday Blackstack! Doesn’t seem like a year already. 16 oz. can with pleasantly garish yellow type in front & highlighting on the back. I won’t lose the remaining cans, for sure.

The pour is precisely the color of pineapple juice; I half expect to see an endorsement from Dole on the bottom of the can. The nose – wow. More tropical juice than any other IPA I’ve set beneath my Rollie Fingers ‘stache. Mango, pineapple, citrus burst out of their skins. Wow.

On One transports me instantly to the ocean-side road in Cozumel. Like both other Black Stack IPAs I’ve had, this is hellackously sweet – whether by design, under-attenuation, or the addition of 500 lbs. of sugar, I have no idea. Tastes almost like candied Belgian sugar. Mango is the primary tropical path it follows, with plenty of citrus. Bitterness is moderate but persistent. Big mouth on this one & I’m a sucker for the sweet/bitter combo, so this will not last as long as the typical 12 oz. can.

If Black Stack could match the aroma to the taste, this might be the best IPA to ever come careening out of MN. Excellent beer.

I believe this little fella dropped while I was on vacation in Florida - I was only able to find the one can at a retailer out in the sticks. But, that's okay - I always prefer just a single can for initial review!

On One is perhaps my favorite new IPA (and beer) from Blackstack. I poured it in to a 16oz snifter and it smelled absolutely terrific from the moment I popped the top. There's a load of citrus in there and just a bit of tropical juice to the nose (though not to the taste). Even with a fairly light pour, the beer produces a bit more than a finger's width of head. It's quite nice looking, and adds a lovely creaminess to the taste and mouthfeel - yum! The taste is all juice and sweetness, with a nicely complementary bitterness to the backbone. I'm pleased by how they've made this a distinct beer from Loud Pack and Local 755 - Loud Pack was too boozy for me, and this is certainly richer and more bitter than 755. Both of these things are quite cool with me - nicely done there.

I like this quite a lot - as noted, it's my favorite new beer from Blackstack. Good show - way to stay competitive with the local big boys, Barrel Theory and Lupulin!

For a hazy IPA this looks better than most. It is a brighter orange instead of a murky mess. Juicy aroma of orange, grapefruit, pineapple, and mango. Flavor is a bit sweet for my liking especially for a DIPA. Juicy flavor that leans to the citrus instead of tropical fruit. Little bit of dankness. Big, soft body but carbonation is sufficient.

I was excited to try this but was underwhelmed as sweetness overtook the hop profiles in both smell and taste. Not bad but somewhat muddled version of a NEIPA.
