The Brut IPA I a new style coming out of the Bay Area. It's bone dry and effervescent. We used Amarillo, Mandarina Bavaria, Hallertau Blanc and bitter orange peel for good measure. Let's toast to lost afternoons and found friends. May all your waits be short and your parties seated before everyone arrives.

Another 16 oz. can of IPA from these guys…& now I’ve found a store with a stash that lasts a couple of weeks. I’d be a Blackstack poster boy if I were better looking.
The pour is pale yellow to the extreme; Hamms ain’t got nothin’ on this baby. No haze. I hardly recognized it as an IPA in this weird year of 2018. Nose is gentle sweetness & touch of orange. Minimal.
Bottomless nails this new ‘style’ with a Brut nail gun. The Hallertau Blanc hops, with their white grape, almost wine-like taste, marry up beautifully with the dry, dusty mouthfeel. It leans in close & whispers “champagne” in my ear with cool, boozy breath. Mild bitterness, light orange, touch of pine close things out, but they’re strictly a supporting cast. Tall boys were the right call here.
Would be interesting to give a pour of this to a champagne fan like my next door neighbor, who feels all beer tastes the same. I’d wager she’d like it. I do. Excellent IPA that breaks some positive new ground.

From a 16oz can:
Appearance: Clear yellow, good head.
Smell: Dry, light floral note, light citrus. Not much aroma.
Taste: Sweet citrus up front, then tropical fruit flavor, and a bit of a floral note. Sort of fizzy feel, light body.
Overall: First brut IPA review here, I've had a few on tap around the Twin Cities. Really liked this one from Blackstack. Nice tropical fruit flavor and dry finish. It did remind me of wine a little, light body and slightly fizzy.

Pale gold and crystal clear with a fizzy champagne-like head that fades quickly but leaves a few random globs of lacing on the glass. The nose to me is a lot of earthy, grassy hops with a hint of citrus in the background. This beer is fruity and bone dry. It is very reminiscent of wine but with the crushing bitterness of a hopped up IPA. Such an interesting beer.

This beer pours a clear gold with a moderate head. The aroma is fairly well dominated by orange flesh and peel, with background notes of some dusky, earthy hops. The flavor features a gentle orange juice flavor, with seville peels, a hint of creaminess, and a touch of dirty hops. The mouthfeel is surprisingly full and soft, with creamy carbonation. Overall this is a really tasty and drinkable beer, that hides its ABV dangerously well.

pours a clear golden yellow color with a small white head. Smells of citrus and white grapes, some cracker meal. Taste had sweet citrus, lemon white wine tastes. A very dry champagne like taste and mouth feel mixed with topical/ citrus hops.

Poured from 16oz can into glass. Released on 8/9/2018.
Has the appearance of champagne. Shimmering, straw colored body with a slight haze. Minimal head leads to interrupted cap and thin ring. Leaves behind some strings of lacing.
Dank, citrus aroma.
Very slightly sweet at the onset, the dry nature of the beer quickly swallows that up, which leads to a dank and earthy exit. Extremely effervescent. Has some tongue burn, but no bitterness, and the overall experience is very dry. Just a suggestion of a little funky. The dry, earthiness lingers in the after taste.
Medium mouth feel, with the very small bubble fizzy, effervescent nature of the beer through the mouth.
Provides a hoppy beer without any bitterness, but does not provide a sweet, juicy taste such as from a hazy IPA. Definitely the most profound Brut IPA tasting when compared to other Twin Cities Brut IPAs I have sampled. So champagne like, yet with tasty hops. I cannot see the Brut IPA style becoming as popular as the hazy IPA style, because of the lack of sweetness and pillowy mouth feel. Still, the Brut IPA style is extremely good as providing a break from the bitter hop bombs. I guess it all comes down to whether someone wants a beer that tastes like a thick fruit juice or a beer that is dry like sparkling wine.
