L: hazy gold under a 2" ivory colored mousse-like head with good retention.

S: Onion, garlic and citrus rind, lactose and biscuit. There is more citrus and less garlic as the beer sits.

T: The beer starts with an assertive bitterness but it is quickly followed by a mild softening sweetness. Citrus flavors lead but there is some light biscuit and a trace of vanilla in the background.

F: very creamy, juicy, medium plus body, medium carbonation.

O: A drinkable, repeatable beer that is not over done.

Getting close to the bottom of my stack of NE IPAs & haven’t added to it in weeks. Here’s hoping this one recaptures some of the early glory of Blackstack. 16 oz. can.

Hazy orange leaks out of the can, along with a stream of sweetness, guava, & spring flowers.

Spin Class is my first IPA with even a ‘touch’ of lactose, & it’s interesting. The lactose seems to give it more body, more heft & thickness, but no milk, thank goodness. It seems to mute the hops some, which throw off lots of grapefruit juice, melon, & a touch of bitterness, though not enough to hold back the filling-aching sweetness when it fully warms. A few less ounces, or drinking faster, is recommended.

Breaks the local NE IPA mold a little, with a nice twist, but still too damn sweet. Pretty good beer that has potential to break north a couple draft picks if the sugar is dialed back.

For a NE-style, double IPA, it looks the way it should; “hazy” and almost totally opaque. Pale tan head, nice lacing...

On the nose it’s a burst of ripe honeydew melon, a touch of bitter grapefruit rind, some passion fruit, and a candi sugar like sweetness. Maybe cotton candy, too?

Sweet, soft, and juicy on the first sip, with a touch of sharp, scrubbing carbonation and a bit of bitterness from the hops. The bitterness lingers quite well and acts as a very good fool to the ample sweetness going on.

The fruit / tropical fruit character from the nose carries throughout the drink, along with some interesting notes of ripe red apple.

Lactose is used in this one, but it’s light, just enough to help coat the palate and transmit the gooey, fruity juiciness and really make it stick.

Does not drink like 8.1%, but these juice focused beers never seem to nowadays. Dangerously drinkable!

A very good (maybe great?) iteration.

Can.
Hazely sunset yellow. Some green and bitterness. Probably too fresh. Juicy and and tropical. Orange and lemon peel.

Medium bodied. Pretty easy drinking. I’m guessing this will get better with a few weeks on it.

This beer pours a hazy orange with a solid head. The aroma features notes of candied melon, strawberry, pineapple, melon, guava, grapefruit juice, and pie crust. The flavor leads with overripe cantaloupe and watermelon, with pineapple juice, guava, green apple and peach skin, banana, and papaya. The mouthfeel is generously full with pillowy carbonation. Overall, another big hit from Blackstack for me - no one in Minnesota hits this style more consistently.

Pours a hazy golden straw color. Smell was floral with citrus. Taste was fruity and sweet with citrus, mostly oranges. Mouth feel was sweet ..too sweet very little bitterness with ABV well hidden. This was again a nice offering from Blackstack Twas too sweet thou which detracted from the Citra/Amarillio hops and the last 5 offerings all taste the same to me.
