Pours a very pale golden in color, with brilliant clarity, topped with an off white head. Proper lacing.
Nose is classic Pils, but with a citrus, lemon rind twist, and bath the Styrian Goldings and Huell Melon hops work their aromatic magic. Clean, no off-notes, and with a pale malt accent.
Sweet and bold on the first sip, with Huell Melon coming in strong. A bit spicy in the mid-palate, but with a sweet bready malt character rounding it out at the end. Dry... but spicy, and with just enough lingering sweetness.
As I list this, it’s a bit off-style for a German Pilsner (the brewery itself lists it as an Italian-style Pilsner), but it is certainly more characterful than a bland “Euro Pils”. Super drinkable, even at 6.5%, and never feels too heavy.
A great change of pace for a brewery known for juice bombs!
