We got together with our friends at Twin Cities PBS (TPT) to make a beer celebrating the new season of their award-winning "Minnesota Experience" series. Inspired by the shrubs that farmers would drink during harvest time to replenish during long, hot days, we took a preposterous amount of apple cider from Afton Orchards and blended it with our mixed culture, oak fermented Berliner base and a dash of apple cider vinegar before conditioning on cinnamon and baking spices. Little tubes of love from brewers like us to viewers like you.

This beer looks just like a beautiful honeycrisp cider. The aroma contains the sweetness of the apple with a slight twang of apple cider vinegar. It has a very smooth and delightful finish that has a lingering fall spice.

16oz can. No dating information found. Label has this beer subtitled as: Apple Pie Shrub Sour.
Cloudy, apricot/apple colored body. Frothy white head sticks around. Leaves some short strings of lacing.
Aroma has lots of apple sitting on top of oak conditioned base sour. The mix of cinnamon and other baking spices come and go.
Taste is a blend of sweet apple cider, a light base of oak influenced sour, and baking spices. The apple cider comes in first and through the middle, and then the spices bring up the end note. The oak sour kind of sit beneath it all. Spiced cider in the aftertaste.
Juicy, slightly thick mouth feel, with some syrup. Okay carbonation.
The first part of the sip is just like drinking apple cider but then the spices mix in and stay. Has a sour mention but nothing at all connected to tartness. Probably better as a colder weather and holiday time libation. Sweeter than expected but more in the realm of a spiced apple cider.
