look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 3.75
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear, (70% clarity), light and pale yellow color with a moderate white head. SRM of 5. (3.75)
Aroma: Strong aromas of grapefruit citrus, garden herbs, lemon citrus with some pineapple zest. (4.00)
Flavor: Strong and juicy flavors of grapefruit citrus, lemon citrus, juicy pineapple zest. A tough of garden herbs and citrus flower bitterness. Dry. (4.25)
Feel: Medium-bodied, mildly bitter, clean and dry. (4.50)
Compared to Surly's Axe Man 1/2023: Pours lighter, Stronger aromas. More citrus zest, grapefruit, pineapple. Less citrus rind, melon, berries, pine. Lighter, cleaner, less bitter.
Overall: Zesty, bright, but juicy. Not really west-coast, but I guess maybe so for a BlackStack IPA. Zesty lemon citrus and pineapple. Nice citrus floral notes for just a bite that invites another sip. Dangerously drinkable. Not a west-coast IPA, but definitely drinks nicely for some New England Haze, I'll give them that. (Rating: 4.09)

16oz can into a pint glass. **Blackstack Brewing never puts dates on their cans.
L: Pours a yeast hazed straw light yellow w a thin eggshell white head that recedes quickly to a skin and edge foam, low carbo, some random scattered light lacing.
S: Melon, citrus, lightly dank, citrus pith, mango, papaya, a dose of cheesy funk.
T: Radiant melon, citrus=lemon, papaya, a hint of yeast, melon rind, a light sensation of bread, lemon zest, fairly clean tasting, a lightly bitter & zest linger w melon rind aftertaste. There is a suggestion of juniper or spruce berries. It is gently sweet at first then zesty bitterness takes over.
F: Lightly crisp, bright and refreshing w a medium body and a med-fast finish w a light linger. Slightly chalky at the end but not overly drying.
O: A very EZ drinking DIPA that highlights a zesty and moderately bitter taste profile. Its 8.2% ABV is well disguised. Great drinkability and not challenging to the palate or tongue. It is excellent in its style.
