like all the other beers in here, the quality is there with this one, but the recipe sure is safe, and to call this a saison in the classic sense i think is a little generous. this ended up being my least favorite of all the beers we had in here, which was most of them. it was the only one that felt overly conservative and its really lacking the depth i need in the style to be happy, and despite a nice malty base, the beer leaves me wanting some other element. what i am missing most here is yeast. there is a way too clean 3711 type french saison ale strain here, fermented a little cooler than it often is, but way to predictable and canned for the style at this point, and i cant get off on it. dry enough by the end, but still sweet grainy too, and with little more than a bittering hop. its well made beer, im just not very excited about the recipe. this needs to be more rustic, old schooler, less clean, and somehow more charismatic. i drank a glass of it easy enough, but i liked literally every other beer in here exponentially more. too many of these forgettable "saisons" out there right now...
