also known as psl in house, this a pumpkin spice latte inspired lager, cool on a number of levels and definitely up there with their saison as my favorite of the beers we had here, this is really good and really different, it almost makes me wonder how they can have such a mediocre brown ale on the menu when they are capable of this, but i digress. this is a rusty orange to copper colored pint, not much head on it but nice and clear, with a strong nose of sweet malt, honey and vanilla character, sturdy roasty dark coffee, and warming cinnamon and nutmeg or clove, really complex and pleasant, even some lager yeast coming through. i love that this is a lager, it has this quite smooth for how flavorful it is, and gives some unexpected crispness to the finish, which you almost never get it pumpkin beer, so nice base beer choice and recipe execution there. everything i smell i can taste, it starts nutty and sweet with some mild spices, not overdone, but just past the midway point it goes almost all coffee, super robust and with some needed bitterness for balance, an element that goes awesome with the lager yeast too. chocolate notes in the coffee, trace smoke even, just really good and a cool way to end this. definitely distinct from other pumpkin beers, super drinkable, and surprisingly refined compared to some others we had in here. downright delicious, i want another! its cool that they got all these flavors into a beer without it being a stout or a porter like so many others!
