A Cascadian Dark ale or Black IPA is a dark beer with the hops and bitterness of an IPA. Our version of this style is accompanied with spruce tips, that our Head brewer Julia and brewer David, went out and foraged for along the Utah Valley Mountain range to put into this beer. The spruce compliments the hops that were added to the beer giving it piney, woody, and earthy notes.
The malt backbone of chocolate, caramel, and a hint of roast blended with the hop bitterness and pine flavors make this beer perfect for the winter season.
Appearance: Black, Delicate, Tan foamy head
Aroma: Pine, Resinous, woody, chocolate, malty
Flavor: Pine, slight notes of citrus, subtle roast, malty, chocolate
Mouthfeel: full body, hop bite, drinkable
SRM: 82
FG: 2°P
IBU: 50

25oz long neck bottle poured into a pils glass
Pours deep brown, almost black with a two finger loose tan head
Chocolate, pine and each strong and complimented by each other
Dark, pleasant but not too bitter hops and pine, roasty almost coffee, I daresay closer to pero, and mild chocolate
Full, but very easily drinkable and not too carbonated.
Julia (brewmaster) really outdid herself with this one!
