I don't run across too many Maibocks but this was definitely good. I'll have to say my next favorite beer besides the Iron Rat Stout.
Great amber tone with a slight orange and beige head crowning the top with about an inch of foam.
I enjoyed the light caramel aromas but didn't note any banana's or the like.
Taste was smooth and flavorful. A good mix of wheat breads, hints of candy corn and subtle hops.
Slick and oily mouthfeel made for good drinks and requests for a second round. I really enjoyed this, think I'll have'nother!

UK visitor, tried this in April 2004, and although I enjoyed it,. felt it it a little heavy and seemed to be trying to be a cloudy wheat beer. Not light and crisp enough to be a true German style beer. It had that hint of 'banana's' in the aroma and flavour, as you would expect, but seemed to be - in my opinion from all the Tampa Bay Brewing Beers I have tried - to be the same basic recipe with something extra added. Enjoyable, but nothing really special.
Update at May 2007. Tried this again, being the seasonal beer available when I visited, and enjoyed it a lot. It is predominately malty to start but good bitterness from the hops as it lingers, and the balance makes it easy to drink, not too heavy or strong, so would make a decent session beer. Definately one to have when its available, and maybe even better now being brewed at the new premises in Ybor City.

Tampa Bay Brewing Co.'s Maibock is made with German Pilsner and Munich malts, and Spalt and Saaz hops, according to the brewery.
It has a bit of a butterscotch aroma and flavor, something I found interesting. The flavor is malty with very little bitterness or hop aroma. It's got a nice, clean taste that is quite good.
This beer is great for quenching your thirst on a warm Florida spring day. I recommend it.
