This place was great all around; ; the food, the vibe, the staff, and of course the beer. Visited it while traveling on business and had a very good time.

Right outside of my office. A good place to stop off at and enjoy a beer while either watching the trolley or the people outside. Great service; great food. Wicked delicious beer cheese dip. Good selection and variety of beers to choose from.

Out and about Ybor, lookin’ for lunch and drink post ‘Tail. This, mad local, in a festively done up joint on the strip, where I literally, just saw a chicken cross the street out front (presuming to get to the other side). Yes, a goddamn chicken, and everyone is unfazed by that. He had attitude, too, strutting his stuff. This cockerel takes no shit, you could just tell…

It’s like a theater plaza building or something and we are putting up in the out front penned space, sun on my face. The space with plants potted, tile & brick floorings, and a center fountain with 15 tables square and roundy, some on shared benchings, some umbrella’d, plus 5 barrel tables riddled about and to the rear. Squared awninged-up plank wood topped laminated shiny shiny bar, vertical dark slat wood base, & a red foot box. Seating 3 sides around for 20 or so on highback leather metal chairs. Mug club mugs a-dangle above and stemmed glassware, too.

12 tap stainless steel tower, only 7 beers up just now (Old Elephant Foot IPA, 7%; Reef Donkey APA, 5.5%; Iron Rat Imperial Stout, 10%; Red Eye Amber Ale, 6%; True Blonde Ale, 5%; Moosekiller Barleywine Syle Ale, 12%; Wild Warthog Hefeweizen, 5%) as the Jack The Quaffer Porter, 6%, had kicked kicked (boooooo). The sampler gets you 4 of ‘em, so… Iron Rat Imperial Stout, full, inky, roasty, bittersweet chocolate; Red Eye Amber Ale, a little not good, I can’t say why; True Blonde Ale, slight citrus-a-ness about it, easy drinking; Wild Warthog Hefeweizen, banana, check, clove, check, it’s a good Hefe.

There will be food. Oh yes, there will be food. I had something called a Bad A** BLT Sandwich and subbed up for the gumbo side, as I am champion. Bacon and gumbo, these are a few of my favorite things. Jed & D split the award winning cider wings & Cantonese Calamari (which was excellent and had peppery goodness heat), looking all green, yellow, & red confettilike. Food was gewd.

Went on walkabout to see what what inside. Lengthy ‘L’ Shaped copper top bar on the inside wall seating 20 on hightop chairs. 12 tap barbell towers on the ends, plus a tower of 4, another of 6, and something on the barback sunken, hmmmn. Growlers above tiered booze on the barback, and mug club mugs a-dangling. Flatscreens on both ends of the bar, and a blackboard in the corner listing tap selections. Exterior walls of windows seem to run through the plaza and to the rear, and then the inner walls of brick and painted places, too. Rough concrete floor and black paneled ceiling. Horsebrass and framed pics, tins, beer pieces, darts, a fireplace, ceramic mug lined pillars, and barrels dotting the room. 2 dozen booths & tables throughout sectioned, a small bar to the rear, and the brewing equipment in the corner, yep, there it is.

Guest taps (Victory Winter, someone’s Gose, etc.), and apparently, there are seasonals on that I didn’t know about because they didn’t offer that little morsel of knowledge up outside (no, I wouldn’t have thought I’d have to ask as being that you want to sell your beer, you should want to tell me these things). Guava Guts, 6%, McBrews Scotch Ale, 7.8%, & Full Moon Madness Subtropical Porter, 6%, were their names. I sampled, troo. Guava Guts was meh, and the Porter was banana and… (You mean, like a Dunkelweisse?) The guy behind the bar couldn’t speak to it, but apparently it’s to be a banananana & vanilla beer.

Will be back down in May for another round. Had a couple of nice beers (Iron Rat Imperial Stout, True Blonde Ale, & Wild Warthog Hefeweizen were the wins) and they lunched us up perfectly. Would like to get a bit further into the beer list, dig

Go here about once a week. Staff is always very nice and most of the time attentive. Food selection is good with specials happening most days of the week. Gets busy on the weekend but has plenty of outdoor seating/outdoor bar also. If had one complaint it would be the lack of guest taps, there are a few both nothing special. This is only off putting because its really a resturant with a brewery inside it (unlike their new location), so it makes you want a little more variety of beer when you come here often. This though is a great place to have a good beer with great people and is a huge hit with out of town friends.

Large venue with both indoor and outdoor seating including a large table for large parties. 8 regular taps [although out of one on my visit] plus 3 seasonals. Good service but understaffed for the large mid week lunch crowd. Food looked good. Large pub atmosphere. Flatscreen TVs available but not featured.

Came by for a friend's birthday celebration as the first stop on a successful bar crawl across Ybor. The lady and myself opened up with a One Night Stand Pale Ale and a burger each. It was a great feeling to just hang out in the patio area with a beer and watch the night life unfold. They've got good beer and good food, just bring the good company and you're set!

My wife and I went to Tampa Bay Brewing Company in Ybor City a week or so before Christmas. We had just flown in on a Saturday afternoon into Tampa and got a hotel room locally. The ladies at the hotel recommended that this establishment because it was actually within walking distance from our hotel.

The location is pretty nice although outside in the area of the train tracks it smelled like there was a broken sewer line, not their fault. The restaurant was pretty busy when we got there at 7 on a Saturday evening but we managed to find a pair of seats at the bar. There were two bartenders, a guy whose name I think was Matt and a women whose name was Kelly or something similar. TBBC seems to be more of a restaurant with a brewery then the other way around, but that's ok, we were looking for dinner also.

The bartenders recommended the beer sampler for starters and it was perfect, it came with 8 beers so my wife and I each got one. In general the beers were of a high quality, because I didn't have my notebook I could not formally review each of the beers, but I can tell you that one of them REALLY knocked my socks off. They have a beer called the Moose Hunter Barley Wine. This thing was great and I really couldn't ask for anything better.

The food was pretty good, my wife got the fish and chips and I got the cheese burger bomb or something like that. My wife loved the fish and chips so much that I couldn't even taste them, that was some BS in my opinion, she ate them all without even offering any. The bomb was really weird, they take all the ingredients for a burger, wrap it in pizza dough, then back it. It was a little bit greasy but the flavor was fantastic.

Being a homebrew the male bartender was talkative and I was able to ask him all sorts of questions about their beers. He is a brewer also, although not at that location. He was extremely knowledgable and it was great. I would normally give a perfect 5.0 for this service BUT there was an issue. At the end of the night I liked the beers and staff so much I bought a couple of shirts along with the beers and food. Then I figured that I wanted a growler of their barley wine. Unfortunately, they only sell one type of their beer in the growlers, what is the point of that!? Anyway Matt was able to charge me for 2 beers and then just put them in a growler so that they were able to get full price for them and I could bring the beer with me. Unfortunately a front of house manager came up and was actually upset about it. On top of that, he was reprimanding the bar tender in front of me!!! This is really bothersome to me, the bartender kept telling me not to worry about it, even though I was telling him not to if it would get him in trouble. That manager had no place in reprimanding a staff member in front of a customer. Seriously it was really uncomfortable.

Anyway, without that little issue everything was great. I would recommend going here for food and beers anytime that you are in the Ybor City area of Tampa!

Came in on a Monday afternoon between lunch and dinner, so the place wasn't exactly packed. Even so, they had their outdoor patio/bar open for those that wanted it.
Ate at the bar inside, and had my initial order taken within a minute. Again, they weren't exactly packed but the bartender saw me almost immediately, as opposed to some places where the service disappears when there aren't many customers.

The food I ordered came right away, steaming hot and both the appetizer and main dish I ordered were delicious and cooked the way I'd ordered them. The three beers I ordered were all good and didn't disappoint. I can't speak to how the service is when they are when packed, but the service I got was great.

Recently visited TBBC and it was my second time there and has another great visit. This time we sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather, as compared to Chicago in February. The patio offers a neat experience in the historic part of Ybor City. The selection was great there were at least 9 beers of their own brews available. The food was decent....who thing of culinary worldly. The service was decent but nothing extraordinary. Overall I enjoy my time in Tampa and the TBBC is a great place to visit.

This stop has an unusaul location in an open air maill. Outside seating is available, always a plus in Tampa. The Cuban was average but the Rat Stout was above average. Okay atmosphere with an outdoor bar. Overall a friendly place with a good family vibe.

This place is smack in the middle of the bar district of Ybor City, which besides this place and New World seems to be devoid of good beer destinations (unless i just wasn't looking hard enough). The space seems like a typical brew pub type feel, more resturaunt than bar or brewery, but the tanks are right there to the left as i walk in, and there is plenty of beer swag, growlers, etc around to let you know they brew beer. The place is crowded on a Tuesday night (although Ybor itself on this night is pretty dead) which makes me feel like the place must have a good reputation. The service is attentive and extremely friendly, both the greeter at the front door as well as our server. My buddy and i both ordered the sampler flight, which on this evening with 2 regulars out, but 3 sesonal selections came to 10 samples. I would describe the beers as solid, but maybe a bit unspectacular. In other words, i enjoyed working my way through the range of samples, and would have no problem drinking their beers again, there's just none that are going to blow your socks offs. And that is fine, i'm not the kind of person who always needs to be "wowed" to enjoy driking beer. Where this place really seems to shine though is the food. i had a salad and the meatloaf, and both were excellent. My buddy had the wings, and he said they were really good as well. I'd like to try more food on the menu. When we mentioned this place to some locals later in the week, they all said the same thing "Good Food!" I'd go back to this place in a heart beat. I'm always up for some solid beer and great food.

Many people seem to talk this place up, and it has an unexpectedly high rating. I really don't know why. Homerism is the only thing I can fathom.

The place screams "tourist trap," and reminded me of a typical family-oriented / college kid hangout, similar to a low-end chain. It's big, it's noisy, it's crowded, it's tacky, it's generic. I'm also really shocked at the way their beer is praised. Their beer...was really not very good at all. Sub-chain quality, if I had to put a label on it. BJ's and RB at least have some good offerings. The beer here? Generic, home-brewy, mass-appealing swill, most of it. There were maybe a few relatively inoffensive brews, but others I literally found undrinkable, and I couldn't even get through a sampler of some without holding my nose and downing it like a trooper. On the plus side, they definitely had a very good selection, but it was all quantity, no quality. No quality. I'd equate these beers with something like Gordon Biersch, or even bordering on Michelob. They're selling crap and getting away with it.

Service was definitely on the ball, which was good. It was pretty busy, but our bartender was handling his area like a champ. Also, the food was quite good. It almost took my mind off the terrible beer, but not quite. I had the fish and chips, which was excellent...but I was craving a tasty IPA or something to go along with it, and I was SOL.

For what was being offered, the prices here were too high, I thought.

To sum up again: this is a tourist trap. I do not recommend Tampa Bay Brewing at all for the serious beer drinker. If you find yourself in Tampa, go to Cigar City, go to Datz. Avoid TBBC like the plague.

Impressive! Spacious and restaurant focused. Lots of artwork scattered around and a nice display set up of the small brewery. Low lights, friendly service, family friendly and clean. Very classy!

The quality was awesome! Every beer was great and so was the Cuban sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the beer!

Service was quick and knowledgable about the beer and food. Informative, friendly, and quick.

The selection was great! Ten different brews on tap! All quality!

Food was excellent. Best Cuban I've had in a long time! Everyone enjoyed their meal.

Overall, the prices were very reasonable. Great overall. Service, quality, atmosphere and food and beer! Clean, spacious, family friendly! Awesome place!

A brewery with NO BEER! Visited on dec. 6, 2011 and was horrified to find out that, even though they had chalkboards in all of their exterior windows listing 10 craft beers, they were out of 8 of them. We had driven all the way down there and paid for overpriced parking just to try their beer and weren't told until after we were seated that they had somehow run out of all but 2 of their menu beers. The 2 that they did have were both IPA, and we aren't big fans of bitter beers so those were also no good. The server told us that they had 2 guest taps, one with woodchuck cider and the other with Hoegaarden, so we ordered one of each of those only to have the server come back to tell us that the Hoegaarden was also tapped out! If it weren't so late and we hadn't already paid for parking we would have left. We decided to go ahead and order food and the meatloaf I got was cold when it arrived. By this point I knew that if I spoke to the server I would end up yelling at her so I just ate it and drank my tepid water then left extremely angry.

I visited this place a couple days ago for the first time, and boy was I impressed. I'll start with the beers, I had 3 which were all very good to excellent. I started with an Old Elephant Foot IPA which was very good. Then I had a Moosekiller Barleywine to go along with my meal, and it was one of, if not the best barleywine I have ever had. Served just over room temperature in a nice solid chalice, with the batch coming in at an impressive 14.2% ABV. What a treat. I ended the night with the Iron Rat Stout, which was also a great beer, in fact one of the better stouts I have had in quite some time. Overall they had about 8-10 styles of beer, and I was very pleased with my choices.

I was also very pleased with the food, which I thought was excellent. My girlfriend and I started with a couple appetizers, the pub pretzels which were pretty good, and the beer cheese dip which was very good. For entrees we had the sirloin w/ blue cheese, and the Barleywine-mushroom topped meatloaf. The sirloin was delicious and the meatloaf was amazing (sirloin cut meatloaf, bacon wrapped topped with mushrooms in a barleywine sauce, and served over mashed potatoes and onion straws; I definitely recommend).

Service was great, our waiter (who was the acting manager) was very pleasant, friendly and informative about the menu, beers, and the place in general. We arrived late on a Monday night, were the last to leave, and never felt rushed, which I appreciated. The atmosphere was more chain restaurant than neighborhood pub, but I did appreciate the mugs from the "mug club" (their membership club where you design your own mug and leave it at the bar so its always waiting for you when you want to stop by for a drink) decorating the walls.

Price was certainly resonable, our bill which included 4 drinks, 2 appetizes and the 2 most expensive entrees on the menu came out to around $70, which certainly isn't bad. I think beers ran at $5 each and all were served in 16 oz pint glasses except the Barleywine.

Overall, definitely a place I'd recommend. In fact I've recommended it to a multiple ppl already just in the couple days since I was there, and I plan on going again soon.

In tampa for a meeting/ vacation, looked up places onBAand found this. Must say this was fabulous for so many reasons. Beer was top notch(had a sampler so can say that for the range of 10beers they offered) , service and food was excellent, (they even gladly made a special order of mushrooms for my son who liked them more than the rest of the pizza he was sharing with my wife.) Atmosphere was anything I would expect for abrewery/restaurant, and very friendly. Wish I could come more often, know where to go when and if I do.

My main comment is these guys brew and serve delicious beer. They had a great IPA (Elephant Foot IPA) on tap and cask. Both terrific--esp cask. Our server was a young guy who was happy to dole out samples (Moosekiller Barleywine was excellent but too much ABV for me that night; their Pale was also good but I was into IPA). The food was fine, nothing special but better than pub food. The atmosphere was a little disappointing though. It felt like a glorified TGIF. The outdoor patio looked like it would have been much more fun but I was with a sweaty New Yorker who couldn't handle the 90-degree heat that night.

This place is in the Ybor City part of Tampa, and has a large indoor seating and outdoor seating area. Outdoor has a full service bar, and is dog friendly, which is great in my family's book. Great open feel inside the place, with mugs hanging all around the walls from their Mug Club. The beers were tasty, and they have a good range of styles. Their sampler offers all of the beers they currently carry, they usually have atleast one seasonal, and it seems there is always a brew on Nitro. Also, they brew their own Root Beer and Cream sodas. The food was tasty, and everything was very reasonably priced. The service was a little rough when we visited, but looking around the other staff seemed to be more on top of things. If in the Tampa area again, we would definitely spend some time visiting this establishment.

I make a part of every trip an attempt to find good local beers. While I'd definitely heard of Cigar City and St. Somewhere, I hadn't heard of this brew pub when I came to Tampa. In fact, I just stumbled across it in Ybor City. The inside of the bar is a pretty standard pub. However, they also have an outdoor bar which serves all the same brews.

While I can't review the food, I can safely say that this was some of the best beer I've had anywhere. I had 6 different beers (Amber, APA, IPA (cask), Barleywine, Imperial Stout, Hefeweizen) here and I can say all were excellently crafted beers. From what I can tell, they primarily produce British and American style ales, the one exception being the Heffeweizen. I do not know i they produce other continental styles.

This is not a brewpub that focuses on innovation. All beers I saw were renditions of classic styles. All I tasted were exceptionally well-made. I could drink multiple pints of any one of them. I haven't been to a brew pub with this consistently high quality anywhere else except the vaunted Russian River Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa. While Tampa Bay Brewing Co. lacked their innovation, they certainly have a nearly unparalleled commitment to quality, and a brewmaster who really understands balance and refinement of style.

Wow, was this a great find. On a busines trip, I was taken here by a colleague that had found it on a previous visit. The very reasonably priced food was outstanding -- I had the special which that night was a 12 oz steak that literally melted in my mouth (for 10 bucks!!). One of the best steak dinners I have had in years! Oh, yes, the beer: fantastic! A large selection of fresh styles! We tried an assortment of thier IPAs (2) and Imperial stout, as well as a fine pilsner. Each one was outstanding and brewed to perfection. The brew master has amazing talent! The atmosphere was pleasant too - plenty of tables and a large comfortable bar for large group seatings. And the televisions were not overwhelming the atmosphere, yet a good assortment of sporting events could be found. If you are in Tampa, be sure to check out this family run brewery. Service was excellent as well. The most upsetting aspect is the unbelieveable realization that I won't be finding Tampa Bay Brewing Co. selections in my local northeast beer outlet!

Easily accessible in Ybor city, TBBC is a great find for some solid craft brews in the Tampa area.

My visit was during lunchtime, so the atmosphere was kind of empty. Was also a weekday.

About 10 brews on top, one was a nitro. Very solid array and variety of brews. Not one really jumped out at me as astonishingly great, but they all had really nice balance and flavor. The sampler packed with one of each, and you'll have a great time plowing through them.

Food is solid as well - the hot pretzel is a great start (w/ the cheese and mustard sauces) and there is a range of really good sandwiches - Cuban, Reuben, burgers, plus pretty good pizzas. Good variety on kid menu too if that is important to you.

The service was Ok - they put in my kids' pizzas as to go when we were eating in, so our meal came w/o theirs - they did however comp my sampler, so a good result in the end. They were lightly staffed, but again for a tuesday afternoon, maybe that is to be expected.

Overall, definitely a great place to go when you are in the Tampa area.

Tampa Bay Brewing Company (TBBC) is a showcase for a rotation of their brews (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/487/?view=beers), including a selection on cask. They supplement the in-house brews with a handful of guest taps.

In its new location in Centro Ybor, TBBC's atmosphere depends heavily on the day of the week and nearby events. On my most recent trip there prior to a concert, it was very flat...almost oppressively so. However, when the outdoor patio is available, it gets lively.

Service is average, which is somewhat disappointing give the vast number of drinking establishments in Ybor. Food, however, makes TBBC stand out, with a menu that incorporates their beer into many items. It makes the establishment an above-average choice for reasonably-priced food in Ybor, as well as craft beer.
