Cask-Conditioned Oatmeal Stout

Aged seven months and served, each year, on the owner's birthday

Appearance: Arrives at the bar with an almost obsidian color and massive head that settles, as only a stout can do, into a pillow of tan foam; good lacing

Smell: Nice roasty aromatics

Taste: Opens with a nice, but not overwhelming roasty flavor that is immediately complemented by chocolate and the mellow oat aspect; the finish is long lasting and rich, but mellow

Mouthfeel: Full bodied and creamy with soft carbonation

Drinkability: A wonderful achievement that is almost dessert-like in its full and creamy elements, but doesn't at all verge on being sweet - I was just lucky to have been in the right place at the right time
