Poured into a pils glass, date probably 8/27/24?
Color is a nice light orange, leaning yellow, with some decent lacing and foam. Aroma is herbal and almost soapy, with some clementine and mango. Flavor is pure hoppiness, with very little malt or yeast character except some light breadiness on the finish. For a single hop beer, the taste is very good and quite complex, ranging from what can only be described as tropical fruit and orange(?) Tootsie Rolls up front, as well as some very gentle coconut flavors rounding off the citrus and mango. These ideas give way to a heavy dankness and a quite herbal finish, characteristic of the single hop, in my opinion. Feel is great, very creamy and smooth, and allows the hop character to shine.
Simcoe usually plays a back seat in many IPAs and I find it to be quite versatile and deserving of a spotlight. The combination of mellow tropical fruit and earthy herbal flavors are great in any hoppy beer, and this one is a great showcase of that.
