Appearance: Pours pitch black with a tan film that quickly fades to a collar; leggy, with spots dripping down
Smell: Rich dark chocolate with a hint of hazelnut; gentle wafts of Bourbon
Taste: Rich chocolate forward with the toasted hazelnut flavors developing, particularly as the beer warms; through the middle, the Bourbon flavors join and provide a complementary blend into the finish; a bit of a Bourbon burn in the aftertaste
Mouthfeel: Full bodied and creamy; almost no carbonation
Overall: I cellared my bottles of this series for about 8 months as my preference is to have a little age of high ABV BA stouts and this is really drinking beautifully at this point; while it verges into pastry stout territory, neither the sweetness nor the booziness is overwhelming
