The can calls this a "FRENCH India Pale Ale". Done as a collaboration with Outer Range Brewing Co., the can goes on to describe the contents, "Outer Range Style French IPA hopped with French Mistral and Citra". Since Resident Culture is located in Charlotte, NC, I placed the style as an American IPA before even opening it.
Pours a cloudy pale gold color. Moderate head but it drops quickly. The lacing is slippery and only briefly leaves any splotches of smaller streaks.
The smell features plenty of pine and weeds. Less prevalent is the juiciness of tropical fruit.
Initially, I get unsweetened pineapple juice followed by a heavily (black) peppered bite. One might even say there are faint red pepper flakes. The body is slightly thinner than expected; the carbonation mildly elevated but with such fine bubbles it's hard to notice. Very dry overall, which makes for a surprisingly short aftertaste of freshly cut weeds. I didn't specifically pickup on anything that would make me think this a new style of IPA.
