My 14er pint glass from Pretentious Glass Company hosted this iridescent orange beer that is remarkably similar to ripe mango. The head is short lived and fizzy, falling from half an inch to nothing. Scant white lace forms on the glass while lively carbonation forms fine columns.
The aroma is very interesting, with a pungent ginger that has a pleasant effect. Sweet and sour mingles with cinnamon, fresh pineapple, and over-ripe peach. Floral notes and fresh, fruity aromas are prevalent.
The flavor is fairly tart with a strong lime contingent that is quickly followed by fresh ginger. The ginger is less prominent than the aroma had suggested, which is fine, because it allows the mango and lactose a place on the stage. The finish is modest and lingers. Warmth brings mild bitterness forward and causes sweetness to become prominent yet controlled. Overall, there is a fresh tropical fruit sensation.
Crunk Culture has a soft, cushy texture and full body. Carbonation is modest and fizzy, while the alcohol is as expected.
This is a happy beer that reminds me of brunch cocktails. I imagine it would be an excellent choice for a late spring or early summer garden party.
