Three local breweries have come together to help the Storehouse feed local families. Our special One for 5 Pale Ale is being canned and ready to distribute across New Mexico. All the proceeds benefit the Storehouse.
A huge thanks goes out to Steel Bender Brewyard, Bosque Brewing Co., Sierra Blanca Brewing Company, 94 ROCK, Admiral Beverage Corporation, and Albertsons Market for teaming up to help provide food this fall.
This special beer is called One for 5 because every dollar raised will provide 5 meals for people in need. This is what collaboration looks like!

12oz can poured into Duvel tulip. 08/20/19 printed on bottom rim of can. Label says to "enjoy within 90 days of canned-on date". Which would have been 11/20/19 or exactly 2 months ago. So this is 60 days over the date. Unfortunately there's' no ABV on the label so there's no much indication on whether or not the beer will survive this extra time. But here goes anyway. Picked up from a grocery store as part of a $10 sixer mixer just yesterday.
Appearance - Pours a one-finger offwhite pancake batter head with weak, foamy lacing, decent stick, and decent retention. Clear light brown-amber body. 4
Smell - Coffee, soy sauce, dark fruit. Those notes begin to dissipate. Alcohol. Honey. Pronounced honey. As the beer warms it's almost only a warm honey. Not getting any hoppy notes at all. 3.5
Taste - Slightly bitter metallic... I guess hop? But that honey is there too. 3.5
Mouthfeel - Heavy bodied. Chewy. Astringency comes across as a bit chemical but the body is so round that it's not too bothersome. 3.5
Overall - Not sure if it's just because I drank this past its date, but it's not a particularly pleasant beer. Not altogether bad though. Too simple to be interesting, yet too many sharp characters to be a drinking/session beer. 3.5
