Medium orange/chestnut look. Subtle, medium toast caramel malt, with a little spiced caramel, on top, for the smell. Somewhat thin, spiced caramel malt, with a very slight woody bite.

Sampled on tap at the brewery. This is a well-executed example of the style. Deep copper color, good head retention, roasty malty aromas and flavors with notes of caramel and dark bread, a nice malty sweetness on the palate, and just the right amount of bitterness. From the style description, this would seem to be right in the wheelhouse for the Bavarian Märzenbier style. Well done!
