500 ml bottle poured into tall mug
L: murky brown-dark orange, copper; opaque ... even the beginning of the pour you can see how murky the brew is; pushes up short head of beige foam, about 1/4-inch tall; no lacing or sticking
S: sour fruitcake, sweet dates, prunes, toffee, molasses, yeast ... loads and loads of yeast
T: burnt toffee, molasses, sour grain, raisin bread, yeast; over time the sour flavor grows along with a herbal medicinal flavor
F: almost flat, watery
O: fresh out of the vat I bet this is awesome, for it's got all the doppelbock notes that make the style a favorite of mine, but there's a slight sour or sort of "off" note that lingers throughout that suggests this beer is either very old or not made to withstand any aging of any kind; it's frustrating because you can tell there's a great doppel somewhere in here — unfortunately, that beer half died some weeks/months ago; i've given it a poor rating, but the beer is good enough that I'll re-rate it when I can get over to the brewery and try a fresher version

I have had this beer on tap several time at the brewery. It is served in a shaker pint. It is a golden brown color and has a rich foamy head and good lacing. Nice sweet toasty smell and taste. A pleasant earthiness and richness make it a beer you want to have often.
Had some of a new batch last night for their Octoberfest. Even better than before, with a new spiciness, hints of cinnamon. A great beer!
