We introduce to you Pyrite, the beginning of our barrel aged imperial stout experiment. Each batch will be indicated by the hand written number on the side of the bottle as we move along the color will change to indicate batch number. This particular batch (1) was aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels (no maple syrup was added during or after the brewing process) for 13 months.
Our image is of a Pyrite sun (miners dollars) have only been found in handful of coal mines in the world and all are located in southern Illinois. Most are estimated to have formed 350 million years ago within the sheets of anthracite coal shale.
