Poured from a 16 ounce undated can into a snifter at 50 degrees.

Look- Black, opaque, medium brown creamy head, average lacing, above average head retention.

Smell- Cacao, coffee, toasted malt, between medium and high strength of scent.

Taste- Cacao, coffee, caramel, toasted malt, moderately sweet, high strength of flavor.

Feel- Medium body, average carbonation, silky, moderately sweet, moderately bitter, mildly mouth warming, moderately creamy.

Overall- Great appearance with jet black color and above average head retention. Bouquet and flavor had plenty of strength with a nice mix of cacao, coffee and caramel. Body was thinner than expected, but still had a pleasant creamy/silky texture. This was a very nice non-barrel aged stout reminiscent of Darkness by Surly. This beer provided a really nice drinking experience.

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Black as night pour, wispy brown head. Rich chocolaty aroma, hint of booziness. Taste layers on the chocolate, luscious, sweet, notes of caramel and latent alcohol. Very mild bitterness.

Poured from a bottle - dark as night with thin chocolate milk head leaving thin frosty lacing. Nose is really mild chocolate, coffee and sweet malt. Taste follows with more strong coffee and chocolate. Finish is smooth and creamy with hints of wood. Mighty fine. Bottle from the brewery sitting in the fridge since 9/18.

Sampling a cellar temp 22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Bottled on 9/14/2019.
Part of a trade with @mikeoxlong, thanks man! And my first review of a Nevada beer! Double win!
The beer pours a rich dark black coffee color with no light passing through my glass. A dense, yet creamy tan head of 2 cm foams up even after a gentle pour. This foam remains as a sturdy surface layer and clings to the sides of my glass after each sip.
Aroma is fairly bold and assertive, with lots of deep chocolate malt notes, some brown sugar, a bit of molasses, and a little vanilla and some peppery booze too. Some basic roasted notes make up the rest of the aroma. I dont really get a hop presence on the nose, which isnt surprising for this robust imperial stout.
The first sip reveals a silky smooth texture with very fine and tingly carbonation. The body is fairly thick and coats my palate with a sticky covering on each mouthful. Definitely a sipping beer based on physical traits.
Flavor is big malt profile. I get roasted malts and again a lot of dark chocolate, but also some sweet chocolate and molasses. I also get the brown sugar sweetness and a hint of burnt tobacco in the background. There is some bitterness, but I believe this is from the booze as it is sort of black peppery and astringent bite to it, plus warming on each swallow. Again , hops dont really show up for this event.
A big sipping, slightly boozy brew. This may benefit from a year in the cellar, unfortunately I only have this one bottle. After checking out the brewery and drinking this one, Id like some more of their big dark brews.
Worth a shot if you see it and like big boozy malt forward beers.
