The Sacramento Beer Enthusiasts is a group of beer-loving freakazoids; so of course we get along great. We’ve brewed together before and this time around we brewed a White Double India Pale Ale. The fruit forward hops compare and contrast very nicely with the slightly spicy Belgian yeast character, a welcome winter treat for all to enjoy.

First time trying a White IPA....this one had tropical fruit, pineapple aromatics. Taste follows although a bit subdued. Hoppy bitterness hits after the swallow but it is not real heavy. A very smooth and crushable DIPA at 8.5% ABV.

Poured from a can , looks almost identical to Tahoe Haze -hazy light yellow with white head leaving a bit if bubbly lacing. Nose is tropical fruit influenced by Belgian yeast. Taste follows in a very mild way. Quite good but not quite Belgian.

Had on tap at Round Table Clubhouse in Citrus Heights, CA
Appearance - Served up in a snifter, hazy and light mellow orange in color with a thin, broken layer of suds and a fair ring around the edge of the glass. Broken webbing and spotting makes up a decent amount of lacing.
Smell - Strong tropical fruit nose; papaya, passionfruit, orange and a hint of spicy Belgian yeast character.
Taste - Follows the nose, though the Belgian yeast displays a more prominent presence. Tropical notes of orange, papaya, passionfruit and mango find themselves well ingrained with notes of banana, clove and funk from the yeast. Finishes with light, mild pith, funk and fading banana.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Drinks easy enough before a mostly dry finish.
Overall - Tropical funk bomb. Interesting. Probably the best White IPA I've date to date, but then I was never big into the style to begin with.
