Aged in bourbon barrels, this release is velvety, viscous, and rich with dark chocolate and roasty coffee notes, and of course delicious vanilla, caramel, and oak character.

22oz bottle. Gold wax over cap. 2018 vintage. 12.5% ABV.
Black colored body, with a very thin red mahogany back lit edge. Finger of brown tiny bubble head, which puts on a rapid retreat to a slight skim and a ring. Leaves behind scattered small spots of lacing.
Aroma is straight ahead dark roasted malts soaked in bourbon, with chocolate and vanilla.
Taste has a bit of dark fruit, but the main thrust is roasted malts with bourbon barrel, expressing chocolate and a bit of coffee, along with the vanilla. All continue into the aftertaste.
More than medium mouth feel. Kind of chalky and drying. No mouth nor tongue burn. Supportive carbonation.
This is going to be having a bit of a cardboard flavor soon, but this one has the dark fruit right now. Pleasant sweet milk chocolate with just a touch of coffee at the end.

2021 vintage:
Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a snifter.
Look- Black (even darker than the non barrel aged version), opaque, between dark and medium brown frothy head, Above average lacing and head retention.
Smell- Bourbon, oak, coffee, cocoa, vanilla.
Taste- Sweet, bourbon, coffee, cocoa, vanilla.
Feel- Full body, highly mouth coating, syrup like, moderately mouth warming, below average carbonation, smooth, sweet.
Overall- Wonderful look and feel with very good taste and smell. This was a large improvement over the non barrel aged version I had the night before. This version had more robust flavor, fuller body and much high head retention.

Bottle pour- dark as a moonless night with thick chocolate milk head leaving bubbles and scant lacing. Nose is weird and dare I say, almost unappealing, hot and boozy. Taste is the complete opposite - roasty malt ,boozy barrel wood with hints of vanilla and cocoa and oak. Lingering boozy barrel notes on a dryish finish. Tasty AF. Got this with 3 others. glasses, a cooler bag and a signed tin tacker right after the covid thing happened. Support your favorite brewers!

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. 2018 edition, had 2/22/20.
Pours near black and opaque, thick looking, with a half inch head of darker foam and some specks of cling. Aromas of bourbon, light roast malt, chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, char, some oak, some caramel. Similar flavors- bourbon, malt, vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, some oak, light caramel. Smooth, a very good full body, well carbonated.
Terrific barrels, excellent flavors. At its best fully warmed. Very enjoyable.

Shared 2018 bomber bottle.
This is a boozy brew with the high ABV clearly showing. This is not objectionable, especially given the notable vanilla, bourbon and oak notes.
Well balanced.
