This imperial stout with Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans, Cacao Nibs and Toasted Coconut was brewed for our 4000th batch. A fitting beer to leave 2020 in the dust and a decadent drinking experience to start the new year off right.

Big thanks to Big E (not New Day Big E) for hooking up this can. One of the best pastry stouts I've ever had.

Pours dark, its black. Brown head 2/5" deep. The aroma has a much stronger coffee presence than I was thinking going into the beer. Expecting sugar, hit with a dope coffee impression. Nothing in the commercial tug job about coffee, and who knows, maybe they perfected that roasted malt bringing a coffee sensation to the aroma and taste thing.

Taste was exceptional. Even though there is a nice coconut and vanilla presence, this doesn't get sugary, still kicks that roasted malt/coffee aspect that solidly grounds this beer as a top notch stout before the rest of the cabinet is up in there. Chocolate well done, dark and not overly sweet, which is also a good super short summary of this beer. This is ridiculously easy to drink without the "for a 13%" beer qualification. Its easier to drink than some 5% stouts out there.

For a guy who isn't into pastry stouts, this was excellent first tier stuff.

Batch 4k starts off with a bit of a funk, but once you get passed that it is very good. Big hits of chocolate and vanilla bean blend together to create this decadent stout. We have survived 2020 and look forward to a bright future.

Pitch black thick pour, mocha cap. Great aromas of the chocolate and vanilla leading with lighter coconut. Tastes similarly, but has a light nutty/nougat element on the finish, very rich on the palate all together. Warm and velvet smooth, with good viscosity. Get this one in a barrel please! And yeah, as the can says "fuk 2020"

16oz can poured into a snifter.

A: Opaque, jet black with a small mocha-colored head.

S: Fantastic aromas of toasted coconut, rich and moderately sweet, with a good dose of chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. To me: it smells like a less-'artificial' Almond Joy, or some kind of coconut/chocolate candy bar that doesn't go overboard with sugar.

T: Follows the nose with incredibly well-balanced and present sweetness that never gets cloying; there is a huge amount of toasted coconut in here, fresh and somewhat nutty. That roasted backbone shines through at times with a presence of coffee and dark chocolate, and that vanilla/bourbon sweetness is on-point. The coconut character leads to an impression of toasted almonds as well.

MF: Creamy, smooth, rich, full-bodied, and ZERO alcohol presence, which is pretty impressive.

O: This one was pretty epic. Revision NAILED the coconut here, and this one doesn't enter diabetes territory for a Pastry Stout; instead that mellow toasted/roasted character balances the coconutty-vanilla-bourbon sweetness and then the whole thing gets covered in a 60% milk chocolate. Just delicious.

Sweet chocolate roasty, hint of vanilla, and hint of coconut nose on this one! Taste follows with a dark chocolate bitterness, prominent vanilla, and a nice kick of coconut finish...the vanilla-coconut notes gives it a bit of a creamy vibe on the backend. Taste>Smell on this one...I would love to try this barrel-aged. This is good stuff!
