Barrel-aged imperial stout conditioned on fresh organic orange zest, cacao nibs and vanilla beans.
Chocolate Grove is bursting with zesty orange flavor, balanced by notes of rich chocolate, caramel and amaretto. This luxurious imperial stout was aged in bourbon barrels for 19 months and then conditioned on cacao nibs, fresh orange zest, and vanilla beans.

Difficult to know how much this changed while sitting in the dark cellar for over 2 years, but when I had it on 3/31/2023 it was amazing. The chocolate was still strong and the orange had maybe mellowed as it was more of an essence than flavor. The feel was rich and smooth, very nice. From the dates of the reviews here I am guessing this is no longer being made. Shame, it is really good.

Pitch black pour with a light brown collar. Big slightly medicinal orange and sweet vanilla atop a bourbon and chocolate laden stout for the smell. Taste explodes onto the palate with so much orange zest, backed by very warm bourbon booze, molasses, chocolate, vanilla, and a touch of herbs on the finish support, but the orange is too overwhelming, barrel character and general depth of the beer is lost quickly in each sip. Feel is medium-heavy body with good viscosity, strong booze, and has an underlying smoothness for the oak, zest and vanilla textures to play off of.

Pours black with a thin head that leaves small lacing behind. Smell is wonderfully orange, with a deeply bourbon character, and chocolate. Taste immediately displays that bourbon character, followed by a strong orange flavor then a dark chocolate profile. A last lingering caramel flavor chases the last of the taste. A bit boozy, orange and chocolate characterize this well done imperial stout.

Beer #1900 on BA.
Orange wax-dipped bomber split into tulips with the wife. Dark, opaque pour leaves a small ring of mocha-colored head. Strong, intense chocolate booze hits first, along with some impressions of citrus rind, but as this one warms there is a nice, clear note of orange on the palate - a lot like those holiday/seasonal chocolate-covered orange candies. There are complementary notes of roasty espresso and even barrel char. This one is intense and full-flavored, but one that is still enjoyable as it warms up. Definitely a sipper though.
