This dark lager kicks off with notes of chocolate and an ever-so-slight hint of roastiness, but don’t let the color fool you, this is a thirst-quenching, easy-drinking beer without the bitterness.

16 oz can.

Pours a deep, dark cola brown color with a large fluffy tan head. Great head retention. Leaves a bunch of clingy cobwebs of lacing around the glass.

Aromas of dark malts and bread, chocolate, and light hop bitterness.

The flavor is full of chocolate, bready malts and caramel with some licorice and floral hops on the finish.

The feel is absolutely perfect for the style: Medium-light bodied with moderately high carbonation. Smooth, lightly crisp, and dry on the finish. Clean and drinkable as hell.

Overall, this is a great German dark lager. It checks all the boxes for the style and has such a wonderful and enticing mouthfeel that you can't help but keep your mouth on the glass.

Well this is quite different. The brewery that does 254 different ipas using the same 6 hops (almost always good though) is making a schwarzbier? Ok, let's chalk one up to the diversity is our strength narrative.

Pours black into a 1918 Marquette jersey pint glass in front of a William Regal microbrawler. Looks the part. 3/4" beige head on top. Aroma hits the roasty malt, but doesn't leave a specific lager impression aroma wise. Come to think of it, they usually don't. No problemo.

Taste fits the roasty but light body, feels like a neutral ale yeast though. Just a hit of black licorice I could do without but thankfully the mouthfeel and stronger roasted malt and unsweetened chocolate notes whisks it away. Delivers on the light and crisp body contrary to the full fledged black roasted malt appearance. Its a nice change of pace. Sure, it hits those cooler temperature vibes but its still light enough to drink in 79 degree weather.

not what we came to revision for, it was all about the hops for us, but man, they did this really well for it being so far outside of what i know to be their normal wheelhouse, really fine example of the style, nicely lagered it seems, dry, and light for its color, with great roast, middle chocolate malt character, and a dry earthy german finish, impressively well built. more brown than black, lighter than some then, but still right on for the style, a short half inch of fizzy tan head on this, but with exceptional retention, stays lively and creamy looking the whole way. nose is dry roast with less bitterness than many, ashy without seeming burnt or smoked, dark bread, dry cocoa, and tobacco, german yeast for sure in this, and sort of quick and understated overall, like to the extent that its almost surprisingly flavorful when i taste it, the same elements just way more robust than it ever smells, even as it warms. very earthy and wintery, cozy without being sweet in the least, a moderate not heavy roast to the dark grain, a walnut nuance, faint toffee character in the middle, then the bready lager yeast and minerals to close. quick finishing, lighter than it looks with high carbonation, and its definitely a beer to have a few of. fully satisfying, dialed in on the quality side, and perhaps revision is capable of a little more than we tend to give them credit for. great beer to start a very beery day!

Very dark brown with black tinting in the opaque body, finger and a half of tan foam. Smells of roasted malt, leather, char, and cocoa. Taste is mostly roast malt with mild cocoa. Feel is thin, malty with airy yeast, just doesn't have the texture dynamics the style relies on through the sip, more stationary

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Dark brown pour with a foamy beige head. Sweet roasty aroma with a hint of chocolate. Taste turns to the roasted malt, on target bitterness, coffee and still some chocolaty notes. Dries out at the end
