From the depths of these hand-selected bourbon barrels comes a bold Imperial Stout, rich in dark chocolate character and oak staves. Notes of brown sugar and black licorice give way to a smooth coffee-like finish, making for an intensely mellow experience.

22oz bottle, wax over cap. Vintage 2022, Imperial Stout Aged in Heaven Hill and Elijah Craig Bourbon Barrels for 20 Months.
Black colored body. Fizzy, brown colored head with the pour retreats to islands and a thick ring. Very scattered short lacing strings.
Aroma of bourbon barrel soaked dark roasted malts, with chocolate, oak, brown sugar, and black licorice.
Taste is invaded by bourbon barrel vapors. Sweet dark roasted malts. Flavors of chocolate, oak, and brown sugar. Hints of dark cherry and black licorice. Aftertaste mellows with sweet brown sugar and chocolate.
More than medium mouthfeel. Silky, with some syrup. Higher ABV% is very warming and brings forth vapors with each sip. Good carbonation.
Overall sweet, and bourbon barrel soaked. Rewarding sipper with the brown sugar and chocolate.

2022 vintage- 15% abv

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a snifter.

Look- Black, opaque, dark brown frothy head, average head retention, slightly below average lacing, high alcohol legs.

Smell- Bourbon, cocoa, oak, black licorice, molasses, very high strength of scent.

Taste- Bourbon soaked, cocoa, molasses, black licorice, high strength of flavor.

Feel- Medium body, highly mouth warming, average carbonation, moderately bitter, mildly creamy, mildly mouth coating.

Overall- This beer provided a great drinking experience. Absolutely soaked in bourbon with high intensity of both nose and flavor.

Stout pour appearance. Smell strongly of cocoa and bourbon, with molasses soaked wood, raisin and faint vanilla supporting. Huge bourbon leads taste is boozy way, molasses and bakers chocolate form the next layer, with dried dark fruit supporting on the boozy finish. Feel is very warm yet decently lush, wetter for style, carb a tick high

Who knew there was a brewery in Nevada? J/K. I’ve been to more than one. This 22 oz. bottle is from one I’ve never heard of. Split with the wife. Who’s been to Nevada, too.

Depths of Desire is sharp. The bourbon barrels cut enough to draw palm blood & the pain is good. Bourbon. Oak. Sharp oak. Attendant booze, but polite. Grohl booze. Malty? Who cares after that fine, razor-sharp barrel. Unfortunately, I’ve split this with my wife. She’s still conscious or I’d creep over & steal…well, hers is gone. Well, poop.

Great barrel, great supporting cast (I’m looking at you Rebecca/Hannah). Excellent beer.

Bottle pour - typical black stout with bubbly khaki head lacking lacing. Nose is a bit damp. Taste steps it up with barrel wood and bourbon notes. Finishes dryish with lingering barrel on the tongue.

this might be free of adjuncts, which is uncommon these days, its certainly bourbon barrel dominated, and frankly a little much at this abv, its hot to drink even though the flavors are nice, and its sort of like the high and intense alcohol thins it out and makes it a little sharp, its not as overtly mature and luxurious as a lot of these are, but this is a monster in terms of abv, and it shows. some shine to it, less viscosity than anticipated, close to black, inky, without very much head at all from the tap right at the source in sparks, cool to get to drink something like this there. the nose has hints of caramel, espresso, dark chocolate, and coconut to me, but its mostly vanilla and corn based whiskey, sweet with brown sugar and creme brulee top character, nice roast to it, but its sweet before its bitter to me, and the alcohol is bold, subtle hint of permanent marker too. some middle malt character in the taste of raisin, cocoa powder, and toffee, but again its the oak, the char, and the whiskey which stand out the most, maybe a little pipe tobacco to this too, sticky like that, with just enough roast to have some balance, long sweet finish on the teeth and hot going down. i like this, its flavorful and developed, but its almost like it needs to be blended back with some stout that has not been in the barrel, round it out a little bit. this is in some ways like whiskey has been blended right into the beer, and at this abv its a lot to drink even a small glass. cool effort, but a small doses thing for sure and i dont think its as well refined as their best stuff. maybe some age will help this out...
