Tasted by half pint at the NWAF 06, Manchester, 18/01/06. Gravity-dispensed.
A: slightly hazy, light amber hue, fluffy head lasting o.k.; low carbonated body.
S: apple peel, citrus-fruity hops, tea leaves and a mild caramel maltiness mix well together, resulting in a balanced nose for a premium bitter.
T: chewy and leafy hops upfront, on top of very mild but juicy, caramel maltiness; herbs and hop-flakes flavour take over and sustain at the back, leaving a lingering, black-tea like lingering, bitter and tannic aftertone.
M&D: although it's very smooth on the palate, the body is apparently thicker than a 4.8%abv. bitter, maybe due to the water or else. A very solid premium bitter it is, if not a loud and exciting one.
