Coffee has been a long time passion for us here at The Shop Beer Co. We want a coffee beer that focuses on the specific flavors and essences of single origin coffees. In so doing, we found that Presta Coffee Roasters profiles fit exactly what we look for. This allows the bean to express more of its natural flavors and unique qualities. So instead of brewing a coffee porter or a coffee stout, we decided to go with a lighter nut brown ale recipe that allows the coffee to show through both in the aroma and in the finish. A smooth, nutty sweetness that finishes with wonderful coffee notes, making this a great beer for any time of year.

Had on nitro tap. Medium brown with lighter edging opaque body with a full nitro tan head and thick lacing. Smell features chocolate and coffee dipped into lush toasted malts and a hint of burnt caramel. Taste has a vanilla accent to the coffee and chocolate, almost tiramisu like, otherwise brown ale malts and gentle yeast fold over this yummy core. Feel is a little light in the body, but velvet smooth, lush and malty with a nice red thread of percolation coming through

On-tap in PHX; dark brown/opaque pour with a small tan head. The nose explodes with espresso and mocha, minor nutty sweetness, maybe some toffee as well, but gobs of coffee character; smooth medium body with good carbonation and a pleasant body.

a neat beer, loaded with coffee. i like the java in a brown ale not a stout or porter, the coffee does the roasty bitter bit, not the grain, and i think thats cool. nice complexity to this one, some caramel notes in both the malt and the coffee, and fairly light on the conventional chocolate malt, this one isnt real dark, which really lets the coffee stand out. the coffee does seem not quite fresh, and like the acidity is creeping into this a little bit, i get an almost red wine tannin note to it, which is odd in the style to say the least, almost tart for a second, but the coffee also has some layers of cocoa and dried berries and an earthiness that all really work well. the body is light, almost too light, it has great carbonation but its not quite as hearty as i would like for fall drinking. that said, i think they did a nice job with it and all who tried it thought it was excellent. my first from these guys, i will keep my eyes peeled for more. neat use of coffee here, an unconventional result.

Picked up a crowler as part of the Groupon tap room deal 9-30-17. Canned on that day.
Beer poured cola brown with a nice off white head that is leaving some lacing behind.
Nose is toasted malts, light coffee and some dark chocolate.
Taste is really well balanced between the coffee malt base up front, a touch of dark cocoa in the middle, and an ample amount of hops to balance everything. Nice use of the adjuncts.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and pretty smooth.
Overall this is a very flavorful, subtle brew! Definitely have this if you enjoy the flavor profile!
