Received some of these as extras in a trade. Canned on 3/29/18
A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice super hazy golden sunshine hue with a big creamy almost three finger white head that fades incredibly slow to leave sticky side lacing. For the ABV this is beyond impressive!
S - Aromas of sweet malts, some sweet pineapple, definitely getting 'grilled/charred' elements from the 'grilled pineapple' addition, little bit of toasted notes from the toasted coconut. Not a whole lot of coconut in general. Really light vanilla creme aroma. As it warms the grilled/charred aspect actually overpowers the nose a bit.
T - Taste is loads of sweet malts and sweeter pineapple flavours. There is some nice light coconut sweetness that plays in as well. Flashes of that 10.1% heat. Lactose definitely noticeable on the finish with lots of creaminess. More of that vanilla creme. Comes across like a boozy, aggressive pineapple forward pina colada.
M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, smooth and creamy. Alcohol a bit noticeable but still doesn't come across as double digits.
O - Overall this was a very interesting 'triple' IPA. I think it would have come across a bit better around 8.0-8.5% though as there wouldn't be that noticeable harshness towards the finish. The pineapple is really nice here, though the 'grilled' aspect is a bit much on the nose. Wished there was more coconut going on and the malts dialed back a bit. Still though, certainly unique.
