According to "Oaklore," Orange County was originally covered in giant sequoias and oak trees. Loggers naively chopped down trees to make lumber and oak beer mugs. Eventually, seeing an abundance of lumber and a lack of trees, they planted orange groves, figuring harvesting oranges would be much easier than chopping trees down all day long. The orange groves flourished, and the area eventually became known as Orange County. Brewed to lumberjack standards, this brown ale is aged on oak chips, giving its caramel and nutty body a sweet hint of vanilla and oak aroma.

Creative packaging, but not great ale.
Pollen Nation's many visual and verbal plays are matched by a good-Looking ale, partial clarity and a new foam that hangs on as lace. Smells are distinct as wildflower comes to my senses. Because of that risk, Tastes are below average and a bit off. Same issues despite adequate bubbles.
Went on their website and I have to say Evans' packaging is among the best. But, they have had plenty of time to develop; claiming to be nearly the oldest crafter in southern California. But, Pollen Nation probably will become one of the brewer's many experiments without staying power.

Pours a honey gold (derp) with a thin white head that breaks quickly leaving little behind.
Smell is heavy on the honey and there is a definite honeysuckle air to that.
Taste is also hi Ryan led,but it's not overly sweet given the emphasis on honey. I actually found a bit of a sour finish to it.
Feel is light with active carbonation. A very quick finish that leaves a slight sweet aftertaste.
Well it's a honey beer. Yep. That's about all I can say.

This one couldn't look more like urine if it tried. Finger-width eggshell head sits atop, adding to this notion. Smells heavily of malt, wheat and straw, with touches of pollen and honey.
Taste is very subdued - faint malt, wheat, straw, honey. Really not much going on here at all, pretty bland. Very light bodied and watery, this drank more like a lager for me. Just a touch of dryness in the back end with a lingering of malt and grass.
Very uninspiring, worth a try I guess, but wouldn't have again.

Clear yellow colored beer with a medium sized white colored head.
Smells strongly of honey and pollen. Strong yeast scent.
Starts out very neutral in flavor. Yeast and wheat cracker malt taste. Faint pollen taste. Really doesn't taste like much.
Mouthfeel is OK.
Overall kind of a boring ale.
