Slightly hazy golden color with moderate activity and a faint veil of yeast. Light foamy white 2 finger head, lasting around 5 minutes, with shy legs but decent lacing and swirl reaction. Flavors of caramel, sweet grains, corn, light cabbage, and floral hops. Slick medium to full body with prickly carbonation. Light to medium strength finish, dominant cereal feel, light veggies, with lots of sugary caramel. Good freshness. Not as clean and attenuated as expected from the style, overly high maillard effect. Hits the complexity there, but at least it feels way better than a freedom 35. Ingredients are decent and doesn't feel like bad adjuncts. It does have the slightly dry sensation reminiscent of the style. Overall okay quality craft, almost decent, but not that kind of decent.

Tallboy can from the LCBO; best before Feb 28 2018 and served slightly chilled. The houndstooth patterning that adorns the label could not possibly be more perfect.
Pours bright gold, effervescent and crystal clear, with more than an inch of soapy, puffy white head that slowly disintegrates over the next five minutes or so. Nice lacing, with a thick collar and creamy cap; I can't say I've had all that many malt liquors, but this one looks much better than I'd ever expect one to. It also passes the 'smells like a malt liquor' test with flying fuckin' carpets - in that it mostly just smells like corn sugar, with hints of cotton candy and alcohol. I've got sixty bucks for to say that this'll be pretty fuckin' good, boys.
Very one-dimensional, as these things tend to be: it's mostly just corny - corn sugar, corn husk, corn syrup... you get the idea. Finishes with a sugary-sweet cotton candy note and some ethanol warmth; the cotton candy and corn sugar linger faintly into the aftertaste for much longer than the booziness (which is comparatively brief). Light-medium body, with moderate carbonation and a relatively slick, smooth mouthfeel. It's fine for what it is, but objectively speaking this is not what I would call 'good beer'. It's good marketing, though.
Final Grade: 3.15, a C+. Ricky's Catch 23 Malt Liquor requires no re-fuckulation whatsoever: it's already about as decent as a traditional malt liquor gets IMO. Too sweet for my tastes - but as far as malt liquors are concerned, if that's the only complaint I can come up with then it's in good shape. Worth the tick I suppose, but I doubt I'll return to it; certainly not the best strong lager at the LCBO, but much more tolerable than the worst. If you live in Ontario and drink malt liquor then this one is actually pretty good value.

Pours clear bronze with a foamy cap that recedes quickly but coats the glass in lace. Light bready sweet malts and a hint of alcohol heat in the nose. Sweet malts and corn husk in the taste, a bit of cooked vegetables way in the back. Strong alcohol presence for the abv. medium bodied with full, active carbonation. Sweetish, corny finish. Hop bitterness is awol throughout.
An OK malt liquor, but a bit bland and sweet. I guess that makes it a good malt liquor...
