Firn is our Pale Ale brewed with a base of Pearl malt for a clean finish, the perfect blend of oats and wheat for a soft body, then a touch of rye for a slightly spicy, refreshing character. The combination of Citra and Simcoe both in the kettle and dry hop give this burley pale ale notes of grapefruit, citrus, pine and a light spice finish.

Canned 7/06/20
Pours a large frothy creamy almost 2 finger head with med retention, light lacing, very hazy cloudy pale-orange color
Nose brings some citrus and generic tropical fruit, soft doughy malts, and some water softeners
Taste brings doughy creamy base malts, flaked wheat or oats suspended adding to the creamy softness, as well as some chalky mineral notes and water additions, hops kick in with juicy citrus, some generic tropical fruit, a bit of pith, papaya, some mango, guava, tangerine, etc, mild bitterness, soft finish with lingering citrus and tropical
Mouth is med bod, very soft juicy, med to a bit lighter foamy carb
Overall not bad, plenty of water additions to soften it without overly chalky mineral character, decent hops with nice characters but not a huge explosion of fruit, enjoyable

Fun beer - a little too much butterscotch sweetness to me. Nose is great - grassy and zesty. Taste is a little too swallowed by yeast. A very British Finish and easy to drink. Reminds me of marshal wharf.

Pint can - dated 2/04/19 - poured into a large red wine stem at 44F.
Pours a very pale, turbid milky yellow, with less than a finger of bone-white head. Minimal lacing.
Nose: A tropical juice bomb, and very Battery Steele in nature. Shares a lot with Flume. Overripe stone fruit - mango, peach - guava, a musty grape, and a fair dose of earthiness, and a damp moss and black pepper note. Very indicative of fermentation-stage hopping.
Palate: Follows the nose quite closely. A medium to medium plus level of sweetness, without any stickiness or a syrupy feel. Hop notes of papaya, overripe stone fruits, some pineapple and orange juice, with a nice acidic tang. Guava, white grape, a hint of lemon zest, and some resinous pine-like notes, as well as that dank, earthy, black pepper note, that leads to a cleaner, dryer finish, with lingering notes of grapefruit rind and pine sap.
Mouthfeel/Body: Rather fluffy and pillowy for a pale ale. Good heft and body. A very crisp, uplifting effervescence that lightens the load a little. Impressive feel (and flavour) for less than 6% ABV. Drinks like an IPA, for all intents and purpouses.
Overall: This is an absolutely solid pale ale, drinking more like an IPA, and in many ways, reminds me of some Tree House pale ales. Fluffy, flavourful, and juicy. An absolute top pick for more flavour, more body, and slightly less ABV.
