What is it why should you care?
Located in the Haute Savoie department, a stones throw away from Geneva, brasserie Voirons draws inspiration for their French ales from a tradition of agriculture and community. A husband and wife duo opened the brewery in 2013 using their expertise in wine and hospitality to bring thoughtful beer to the dinner table. Voirons is actively involved with, and certified by, Nature et Progres: An independent French “participatory guarantee system” organization that certifies agricultural producers ethical/organic practices.
No packaging concerns, bright with mild haze, lovely carbonation and a durable head
Aroma: Lemongrass, funky bordering on Lambic brightness, but not phenolic. This beer is fresh, all the herbs (parsley chervil) leap out of the glass along with tons of eucalyptus and pickled fennel. As it warms an orchard fruit backbone of mushed red apples and pears, helps to ground everything.
Palate: A clean barn, Brett forward, but with well integrated drying acidity. The green-ness and orchard fruit continue their complex dance from the nose. Mouthfeel is perfect. On the finish is where this beer becomes exceptional; Surprisingly bitter in a barrel tannin and herb stemmy way, with lingering salad dressing like acidy. It demands your attention and will work with just about any food you have.
Impressions: Look for it at your local natural wine store as they are imported by Selection Massale out of San Leandro, CA. Voirons is stupid good, but maybe a little overwhelming at times.

Got at Red & White, a boutique wine store in Chicago's gentrified Bucktown.
Mystified when I opened this large bottle and discovered this was not a biere de guarde, I went to see who reviewed it on BA. No one. Then, the brewery was not listed. So I went to RateBeer and found one review on this biere (although Voirons had about 150 reviews on six beers.)
Clearly an American rarity, I go on the importers website and they specialize in French wines. So, I surmise, they pushed it on this esoteric wineshop in the midwest. OK. Is it good?
Good enough. And certainly interesting.
Looks like champagne once the suds settle... big bubbles.
Smell attacks like a cider, but barley quickly takes over and, then I ask, can this have been aged in chardonnay oak.
(I don't know because I can't read the label or website which is only in French... Actually, I can't even fake it.)
Taste lets all those characteristics come together for a honest beer.
Feel is less so because bubbles still dominate... even on the second day.
Overall, very respectable offering from a part of France far from Belgium (Voirons is almost in the Geneva metro.)
It went well with Bob's World Famous Ratatouille.
And I felt like a 'bona fide' Beer Hunter !

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
